Ariana is a life-long student of science, and an aspiring public health professional. Her exposure to the ongoing opioid crisis in Vancouver in her early adolescence propelled her into seeking a career in public health. Throughout her academic career, she gained experience in clinical and community based work, most notably volunteering for the NaloxHome Youth Society, to provide naloxone education and resources to people across the Lower Mainland. Her studies focused on the intersections of race, class, sexuality and health, and she aims to critically examine our current health system, and work to reconstruct healthcare from an interdisciplinary, culturally competent and humanistic lens. Her lived experiences as a black woman born from East African immigrants, carrying the histories of both her ancestral countries and being integrated into the ongoing history of Black Canadians, fuel her passion to advocate and educate. She is determined to create a better experience for all women, especially women of colour, and to build a lasting community here at the Rosalind Project.

Direct concerns regarding: social media, communications.

Alena Pham, an aspiring healthcare professional with interests in public health and pathology research, draws on an academic background in health and life sciences to advance women-centered healthcare navigation and advocacy. Alena has considerable experience across the healthcare field, including participating in community health education programs, harm reduction literacy, and supporting awareness and advocacy for disease education, such as HIV. Motivated by her experiences growing up with a single immigrant parent, she was deeply affected when seeing her mother struggle as a scared, non-english speaking woman attempting to navigate the health care system often without support. This experience led her, even at a young age, to advocate for women’s rights and empower women to access healthcare resources without discrimination. Alena is thrilled to contribute her passion, and skills to a project dedicated to her mother and the diverse mosaic of women who have faced similar challenges.

Direct concerns regarding:  event planning, resource distribution.

Kelly is studying to become an infectious disease epidemiologist and public health officer, with a special interest in zoonotic, emerging, and resistant pathogens. Since high school, she obnoxiously advocated for women's rights, later continuing her work under various feminist societies as a volunteer and administrative zealot. In her time as a young professional, she has worked in ecological conservation, neurodevelopmental disease networks, clinical emergency research, infectious disease research, and community mental health. As a result, she has noted a lack of care in research and ineffective services for women across disciplines. Kelly's motivation for the Rosalind Project is also shaped by her experiences as the granddaughter of Asian Canadian immigrants, witnessing both resilience and the unique challenges faced by women in her family. She is wholeheartedly committed to advancing women's opportunities through the Rosalind Project in honour of her mother and the beloved women who came before her.

Direct concerns regarding: website accessibility, project index.
