About Us
The Rosalind Project is named after the late Rosalind Franklin, who laid the foundation for modern molecular biology through her discovery of the structure of DNA. Rosalind passed away at the young age of 37 to ovarian cancer, believed to have been caused by the X-ray radiation emitted from the tools used in her research. She lived and died by her work. Considered one of the greatest discoveries of all time, her contributions were not fully appreciated during her lifetime. Male colleagues later took credit for her discoveries, publishing a Nature article on the structure of DNA and subsequently receiving the Nobel Prize in their names.
Rosalind is one tile in the mosaic of countless women erased from history, including philosophers, revolutionaries, scientists, engineers, pioneers, creatives, mothers, and leaders. It is this realization that drives the Rosalind Project to liberate women from systemic exclusion and constraints and to empower their mental, physical, reproductive, and community health through self-determination.

Core Mission

Our story
The Rosalind Project started as an elaborate thought experiment by three WOC with backgrounds in health & biomedical sciences. Their initiatives drew passion from their lived-experiences, & the ones of the totem women who supported, mentored, & raised them. Together, they found the shared purpose of women's solidarity through scientific, feminist, anti-classist, & anti-racist practice.
